Soccer is important. School is far more important.
We expect our players to maintain good grades. Players who are not passing a course will not be allowed to play unless, in the opinion of the coach, they are improving their grades. We expect players to be at practices even if they are not going to play due to their grades.
We will ask to look at player's grades at times if we are concerned that they may be doing poorly in school. We will work with and support parental efforts to have the children receive good grades. This includes helping to arrange tutors, who may include older players in our Club.
Many of our players are planning to play in college. Colleges will not consider players with poor grades. If players cannot maintain a "C" average in school they risk being ineligible to play, both in High School and College. No college coach wants to roster a player he cannot count on to be able to play. This means when we go to college showcase events we want to present a team with the highest average GPA possible - at least a 3.3. Players who drag the GPA down, even great players, are a heavy liability.
