Coach Will John:
In 2005 Will was selected by the Chicago Fire in the 2nd round (18th overall) of the 2005 MLS Super Draft He appeared in six matches as a rookie, including two starts, and registered one assist. In 2006 Will came home to play for the Kansas City Wizards. Will is the third player from our club to be signed by the MLS. In College during his sophomore year he was named first-team All-Conference and NSCAA All-Midwest Region Second Team after sophomore season, was a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and was the St. Louis University Billikens' leading scorer with 24 points on 10 goals and four assists. As a freshman he was a Soccer America Freshman All-American and C-USA All-Freshman team ... Tied for the C-USA lead with five game winners ... Billikens' second-leading scorer with 23 points. Will has been a regular member of US Youth National teams. In 2005 he appeared in 8 matches, including five starts for the U.S. U-20 National Team in 2005. In 22004 he appeared in 15 total matches for U-20s in 2004, including 11 starts. Finished the year as the U-20's second leading scorer with four goals, also had one assist.A member of one of the first teams started by our club, Will played with us for twelve years participating on teams that won State Cup three times and were twice Regional Semi-Finalists. As a member of the Rockhurst High School team he earned recognition as: the Gatorade Missouri Player of the Year in 2002; and ,was named NSCAA/adidas All-American as well as first-team All-Midwest Region, All-State and Kansas City All-Metro Player of the Year after compiling 92 points (36G, 20A) in his senior campaign. The Hawklets were Missouri Class 4A runners-up in 2001 and 2002, and won the 1999 state title during John's freshman campaign.
